The Women of Substance is a registered Non-Profit Organization which provides support for victims of domestic violence and abuse and facilitates education and awareness programs/events for targeted and the general population on domestic violence.

 

Our Organization’s mission is to create community and self-awareness and assist victims of domestic violence and abuse while working with all stakeholders to prevent, reduce and ultimately eliminate all forms of violence.

 

The organization hosts a bimonthly “Sit and Chat” event which was started on October 2nd 2016 and allows victims of domestic violence to meet and share experiences in confidence and obtain counselling, valued advice and guidance as to the matters affecting them.

 

It also facilitates education on domestic violence.  The organization has a core of volunteer support persons in the persona of pastors, counselors, nurses, psychologists, survivors/over comers.

 

The Organization launched the “Sit and Chat” Trinidad chapter on February 26th 2018.

 

Women of Substance has partnered and collaborated with many entities/organizations in Trinidad and Tobago namely, the Tobago Regional Health Authority, Tobago House of Assembly Health and Family Services Unit, Citizen Security Program, MIC Institute of Technology, Seventh Day Adventist Church, Tobago House of Assembly OJT Unit, Tobago House of Assembly Information Department, Roxborough Secondary School, Signal Hill Secondary School and Tobago Channel 5.
